Today’s buzz word is content. Every business is talking about right content strategy. But, content is not a new thing at all. It was always there, just the medium has changed. The world is shifting to digital age on a very fast pace and the result of this is that today’s customer behavior and expectations are also shifting. Earlier most of the customers used to buy things directly from the shops but now trend of online shopping is increasing including in the developing countries. For example, if you want to buy a condo what will you be doing? For sure, you will go online and search on google “3 bedroom condo in brooklyn MA”. You will go through few links on the first few pages, then look for a realty agency. These are only few initial steps, you will go further, and you will ask your friends on facebook, you will check reviews given about those realty agencies. After getting convinced then you might like to see the condo, first online and then in real. This is what we all are doing now for everything, may it be reviews about a movie, a book, a restaurant, a tutor or anything to everything.

This shift in customer behavior has made the business to think about content in a different perspective. Companies understood that their customers are spending more time on internet than on any other medium of information. Therefore, Content has become the buzz word. Any business cannot be a sustainable business if they only focus on traditional marketing, they have to start thinking about the content and digital marketing for long term sustainability. Today’s customers know exactly what they are looking for and where to look for, so only good content can hold their attention. Therefore, companies should understand their customers’ need and provide the content to help them and not to promote their own brand. If customers like the content they will promote the company, as customers are the face of a company.
